Environmental Policy

As a responsible member of the community, we accept our obligation to manage the environmental impact of our activities whilst pursuing our business aims. We will communicate with, and consider the expectations of, our stakeholders and other people and organisations with an interest in our activities.

Recycle Waste

Electronics Manufacturing is intrinsically a moderately environmentally friendly industry. However it does generate some waste, and AWS endeavours to minimise our environmental impact. Thus we recycle metal scrap (mostly generated from refurbishments), chemicals, paper and cardboard. What we do not recycle we dispose of by appropriate means through competent contractors.

AWS Electronics will:

  • Ensure, through the operation of a documented Environmental Management System (EMS) that our activities, products and services comply with all applicable legal, regulatory and other requirements to which we subscribe.
  • Align the EMS with the quality assurance and health and safety systems, with the objective of creating an integrated management system.
  • Identify the significant environmental impacts of our site’s activities, and set objectives for their improvement appropriate to our control or influence over them.
  • Pursue our objectives through management plans with locally set improvement targets, developed by those Company departments making a substantial contribution to our significant impacts.
  • Achieve, through the application of best management practices and appropriate technology, continual improvement in our environmental performance.
  • Manage and develop existing and new activities, products and services so as to prevent pollution, and reduce waste and the consumption of resources.
  • Carry out suitable monitoring of our significant environmental impacts to establish compliance, or the need for corrective action.
  • Encourage the suppliers and contractors, who provide us with goods and services, to follow the principles of environmental management.
  • Ensure that our policy and procedures are subject to audit and periodic management review.
  • It is the responsibility of every employee to make a contribution to the meeting of our objectives.
  • Our employees, especially those whose responsibilities have an influence on our significant environmental impacts, will be provided with appropriate training.
  • The contents of this policy will be communicated to all employees and interested parties, and made available to the public.
