Full Technical Support

AWS supported our oldest major customer in designing the power supply, control system and test equipment for their new generation of mass spectrometers. With the on-site support of two of our engineers for many months, we guided their design and development team through issues of design for manufacture and test, design for lead free, production engineering and minimising the risks of obsolescence.

We also designed fully interlocked test equipment capable of containing safely a plasma at 6,000oC - the temperature of the surface of the sun. The RF generator operates at 2kW at approximately 27MHz, with complex stabilisation systems.

Our engineers were full members of their design team, supporting their functional design engineers. As a result of this work, the equipment as developed is one third of the size of the previous generation, much more reliable and less susceptible to component obsolescence, new product introduction was extremely smooth and the test equipment was installed onto our site and proven well before we had received the first production order.
