Medical Instruments

A Major Player in Medical Instruments

With a wide range of products, AWS currently manufactures over £1M p.a. of circuit boards, wiring harnesses and assemblies for the medical industry.

One such range of products is a 50kV stack assembly, together with a complete control unit, for a product that zaps tumours with a highly focused electromagnetic beam. This is used in conjunction with MRI equipment to destroy cancerous growths. As it causes only around 10% collateral damage, unlike the current market standard of around 90% collateral damage, unlike standard equipment this market-leading, innovative machine can be used on tumours in the brain and by the spinal chord.

Another range of 38 different circuit boards, including flexi-rigid boards, surface mount and through-hole components, and complex soldering processes, is manufactured to Federal Drug Administration standards for an American client. These are for equipment testing for numerous pathogens in body fluids, on which the diagnostic support of most British pregnant women - along with many other patients world-wide - depends.

Award Winner

European Supplier of the Year

In March 2006 AWS won the European Supplier of the Year Award for Euro DPC, subsidiary of the industry-leading Diagnostic Products Corporation of America. This was awarded for criteria covering the complete range of supplier service, including: delivered quality (to the exceedingly stringent Federal Drug Administration standards), on-time in-full delivery performance, responsiveness to variations in demand and technical support. Despite the exacting technical demands and high variation of product, AWS beat all their other European supply chain to this award. In 2005, AWS came second in these awards - beaten by a company that supplies only one type of plastic bead, with vastly fewer opportunities for failure. This success is a measure of the ongoing, long term commitment that AWS offers its customers, and is the result of sustained, ongoing work with DPC since we started manufacturing for them in 2000. This is just one example of AWS' attitude that winning business is only the start, not the end, of proactive support given to each client's business.
